Policy on the Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-Assisted Technologies

The International Journal of the Nigerian Institutes of Architects (IJNIA) recognises the increasing role of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) and AI-assisted technologies in research, scholarly communication, architectural practice, digital construction, and built environment innovation. As emerging technologies continue to influence research workflows, computational design, urban analytics, Building Information Modelling (BIM), Digital Twins, City Information Modelling (CIM), and data-driven decision-making, the journal acknowledges that AI-assisted systems can support researchers, reviewers, and editors in improving efficiency, organisation, and analytical processes when used responsibly and ethically. IJNIA supports the responsible, transparent, and accountable use of AI-assisted technologies while maintaining the fundamental importance of human intellectual contribution, professional expertise, critical thinking, ethical judgement, and scholarly integrity. The journal therefore provides the following guidance for authors, reviewers, and editors regarding the acceptable use of AI-assisted technologies within the publication process.
