    Architecture, Urban Resilience and Environmental Sustainability

    The second issue of the International Journal of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (IJNIA) presents five scholarly contributions addressing contemporary challenges in architecture, urbanisation, environmental sustainability, and climate resilience in Nigeria. Ihendinihu et al. (2026) investigate the influence of material selection on perceived sound insulation performance in educational facilities in Lagos, while Igwe et al. (2026) examine urbanisation patterns and their environmental implications in Southeast Nigeria. Idoko et al. (2026) explore architectural contributions to air pollution and design-based mitigation strategies in Enugu. Haliru et al. (2026) assess climate-responsive housing and passive design strategies for improving thermal comfort and reducing cooling-energy demand in Northern Nigeria, while Omar et al. (2026) investigate zoning regulations, regulatory compliance, and heat-relevant urban morphology in Abuja. Collectively, these studies advance knowledge on sustainable architectural design, environmental comfort, climate adaptation, and resilient urban development, providing valuable insights for architectural practice, research, and urban policymaking.

    Resilient Urbanism: Reimagining Cities for a Sustainable Future

    The inaugural issue of the International Journal of the Nigerian Institute of Architects (IJNIA) presents five original research articles addressing contemporary challenges in architecture, sustainable development, urban planning, and smart cities across Africa. The papers examine high-performance sustainable buildings in West Africa, the role of Science and Innovation Parks in resilient urbanism, urban aesthetic assessment in Abuja, professional readiness for smart infrastructure implementation in Enugu State, and architectural strategies for mitigating air pollution in rapidly urbanising cities.
